WELCOME TO CRUISING MATTERS
Welcome to Cruising Matters.
We created this website because of our passion for travel and seeing the world by cruise ship and to provide a resource for planning a cruise.
For us, traveling by cruise ship does matter, and has become our way of life, and the ideal way to see the world through our very own eyes.
The keys are what we call PEOPLE. Simply put:
Planning, Enjoyment, Organization, Preparation, Luxury, & Exploration are all integral to successful cruising and travel.
Our hope is through this web site our readers will learn the benefits of cruising, and how to get the most out of their cruise travel. Check back often as we will add new topics to this site.
Although land based travel has some advantages, we can think of no other way to visit so many places in a relatively short timeframe, then to travel the world by cruise ship. Cruise ship travel avoids constant packing and unpacking that one normally experiences via land travel. It allows a good deal of the actual travel to occur while asleep. It also provides a luxurious environment including; excellent accommodations, fine dining, extraordinary service, terrific entertainment and enrichment, and the opportunity to get to know fellow guests and members of the crew.
Traveling by cruise ship has allowed us to visit many more places than we ever could have visited by land. As it turned out, some of those places far exceeded our expectations and we have enjoyed them so much that we have returned for additional visits. At the same time, there have been some locations that we found far less enjoyable than originally imagined. By visiting them by cruise ship, we invested far less time and money than had we seen them as part of a land travel program.
With forty or more cruise lines that cater to the North American Market, plus the equivalent of several hundred cruise ships sailing the high seas, there is literally a cruise out there for just about everyone.
Cruise lines and their ships come in different shapes and sizes. The wide-range of cruise lines allows each line to differentiate from one another, including catering to different age groups, pricing themselves according to the market they are in, and offering guests different experiences. Similar to a land based hotels, ships come in varying sizes from small to medium, to large to resort-style vessels.
There is a wide range of cruises from three-to-four day samplers, to voyages of seven to fourteen days, to even grand voyages and world cruise totaling as much as 100 or more days.
The diversity of itineraries is extraordinary with itineraries representing all continents of the world. Longer itineraries sail one or more continents, and even some such as a World Cruise allows all continents to be sailed on one single voyage of several months.
With so much choice available when it comes to cruising than ever before, we believe to get the most out of one's cruise is the research that goes into the selection of a cruise line, cruise ship, and itinerary. For us, part of the fun of cruise travel is all the planning that leads up to each and every voyage.
