CARNIVAL
Carnival Cruise Lines was originally founded in 1972 and has changed the history of cruising. Before Carnival, cruising was limited to a much smaller select group of people. This changed considerably with Carnival as it promoted cruises both with shorter overall durations and with low cruise fares, making it very affordable for a much greater number of people . As a result, Carnival has brought millions of first time cruisers to the fold. Today, the Carnival Corporation not only includes Carnival but also includes several other cruise line subsidiaries in the mainstream, premium and luxury markets which we will cover under each of their respective cruise lines.
The Carnival brand, is a mainstream cruise line. Think of them as one of the entry level cruise lines. They mainly sail three to seven day cruises, although they do have some cruise itineraries with longer durations. Their fleet is comprised of twenty-three different ships.
They are a good choice for those who are on a limited budget, and those looking for a low cost cruising experience to see if they will enjoy cruising. They are a great option for first time cruisers and they do attract many younger age guests. With a relatively low cruise fare, there are many add-on items that one can purchase once on board a Carnival Ship. They do heavily promote many items on their ships for on-board sales ranging from alcohol to shopping, to shore excursions. They are a favorite of passenger's in their 20's, 30's and 40's and provide a very lively and casual atmosphere.
The major itineraries that Carnival sails includes: Alaska, Bahamas, Bermuda, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico, and Panama Canal, although they also sail Europe. The fast majority of their cruisers are from the United States of America and they sail from/to many USA ports making it attractive to those who can fly domestically or even drive to/from the cruise port.
